In photography and text, Matter of Trust is an eight-year documentary project about a lesbian SM-family. Having one’s ears pierced is generally acceptable to everyone. Fashion photos of “piercing” are found in magazines everywhere. This book tells what happens beneath the surface of fashion and reflects upon rituals of extreme confidence and the structure of relationships.“Real people” speak frankly and honestly about themselves, their need for piercing and cutting, gender roles and their family of choice.
